Wind measurements

A wind measurement campaign consists of a combination of meteorological masts and remote sensing devices (lidars and sodars) that help us measure and characterize the wind resource of an area in which a wind project is going to be developed.

Wind measurements should be collected according to wind industry best practices and analyzed frequently in order to maximize the wind data availability. All this will ensure the bankability of the wind measurement campaign.

Our team of wind energy experts have designed and managed wind measurement campaigns for more than 15 years. The international guidelines IEC and MEASNET are followed in all our mast designs.

Our Services for Wind Measurements

Nayxa is your solid partner to achieve success in all your measurement campaigns.

Design of wind resource measurement campaigns

A wind measurement campaign should be designed to minimize the uncertainty of the vertical and horizontal modeling of the wind flow as well as the data collection.

At Nayxa we take into account parameters such as the complexity of the terrain, the expected layout and area of interest along with the standards IEC and MEASNET in order to design the best wind campaign.

Monitoring of the mast installation and real time validation of data from our offices are also essential in order to validate the wind measurements.

Advice on equipment selection to comply with standards IEC & MEASNET

The wind sector has developed through the years standards in order to guarantee the quality of the wind data. Wind measurement campaigns should follow IEC 61400-12-1 Annex G and MEASNET guidelines.

The fulfillment of these requirements allows that wind measurements can be defined as certified and bankable. Certified measurements allow for no doubts with respect wind data at any stage of a wind farm development.

Nayxa designs all the measurement campaigns according to these standards.

Data filtering and analysis, including remote sensing data

A regular and manual analysis is essential to ensure the quality of the data registered at a measurement campaign. Weekly checking is offered by default although other frequencies are also available.

At a first step our engineers use Windographer in order to analyze wind measurements on a weekly basis. At a second step, our patented software is used on a monthly basis in order to complement the validation of wind data.

All our data cleaning processes and revisions are done by wind analysts ensuring the finest quality of the delivered measurements. Automatic data analysis is not used at Nayxa.

Monitoring of measurement campaigns

Nayxa has specialized through the last years in the monitoring of measurement campaigns. Our unique methodology, based on more than 15 years of evolution, allow us to offer a premium service to our clients.

Our wind resource analysts accumulate a vast experience in the management of measurement campaigns over the last 15 years at more than 45 countries.

Our management of wind measurement campaigns is offered under different plans and prices, available to our clients in order to adapt to their needs and requirements. Please contact us for more information.

How Do We Measure Wind?

Advising clients on how to measure the wind is one of our specialties and important added value.

Mast installation

The installation of a meteorological mast is as important as a good design, and it should extend the fulfillment of the IEC 61400-12-1 Annex G and MEASNET standards. Nayxa has accompanied many clients during the installation process of a met mast by coordinating the involved parties to achieve the goals of a measurement campaign.

Nayxa offers its client with the possibility to build a blueprint for each met mast in order to facilitate the installation company the fulfillment of the IEC and MEASNET standards. Once the installation of the mast is completed, our wind analysts perform a remote connection with the logger in order to verify the correct set-up of the measurement system.

Site Data Tracking

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text.

Wind Data management

An efficient wind data management ensures the quality of a wind measurement campaign. Our wind analysts have a vast experience in handling wind data registered by all existing data loggers. Manual data checking with Windographer allows us to maximize the quality of the wind measurements delivered by Nayxa.

The response time to a problem detected at a met mast or lidar is critical if we want to maximize the availability of the wind data. A high-quality wind resource assessment is always based on premium wind measurements. Nayxa’s methodology is relies on immediate detection of failures and permanent communication with our clients.

Improve measurements to avoid unexpected incidents

The data management process implied in a measurement campaign should avoid undesirable incidents at the time of financing the wind farm. The quality and the availability of the wind measurements are key factors in order to avoid problems at this crucial stage of the project.

The mean data availability, discarding icing episodes, of the measurement campaigns managed at Nayxa lies over 99.5%. Such value, obtained thanks to the processes involved in our methodology, guarantees a high standard at the following steps, from the wind resource assessment report to the financing of the project.
